If you are willing to deviate a little from basic red, a burgundy or wine color is really pretty paired up with a gold/champagne color.

deep red w/ ballet slipper pink and silver as your metallic tone
or
bright red w/ cornflower blue for a nautical look. think wide stripes like sails.
or
one tone of medium red w/ 2 tones in orange for a modern edge.

What about warm colors. Pick reds yellows oranges. Here are some flower arrangements using these tones, I think it would be perfect for july.

try a soft blue - for the flowers use multiple colors of lilacs and red roses.

You could just have red and white with accents of silver.

Do you want to use red as an accent color or as the main color?

If you want to use it as the main color you can use white, silver, black, or gold as accent colors.

If you want to use red as an accent color, I would use black as your main color.

Red & black-It takes a strong person do do this, but it can really look good.

Mine were burgundy and pink, they are beautiful together and there are many choices with those colors.
