If I wanted a lecture, I would have asked for it. I know how to tatoo with needle, thread & ink. It's MY body & MY choice. Many people work on their own bodies. People should know that tatoos are personal & you should NEVER allow anyone else to invade your body until you have established trust with them. I only trust ME!

Relax. Take a deep breath & relax, please!!! I can see that tatoos & mental health issues are bed partners to some of you who have answered my question. I appreciate your concerns & your warnings. A good friend of mine actually owns a very successful tatoo shop. I wanted to see if I could get some better prices from some of the readers. If I DO end up with only ONE arm, then I guess I'll just type slower & do some leg work!!! PEACE 2 ALL. Sherryn :o)

Superior Tattoo, Joe Kaplin, or on e-bay.
Any of these you can find by yahoo search and type in the name. I bought my first kit from Joe Kaplin and although they were very slow in shipping, it is a great machine, I just bought a kit from Superior and it is great very light weight and works wonderful. Superior also sells on e-bay if you are interested but you really do not save very much.
Good luck with your body art!!!!

Go ahead. More money to the professional tattoo artists when they have to fix the crap you inflict upon yourself. It's not like drawing, or even doing the needle and india ink thing. Bad idea.
Edit: I know where to find the stuff, but I refuse to be a party to this idiotic idea.
Edit once again: For some reason, this has really been bothering me. Even if you are an artist in another medium, tattooing is completely different. Do you realize that the average apprenticeship is 2-3 years? And you think just any schmo can pick up a machine and put something beautiful on their skin? It's disrespectful to the art form. You yourself said that you are very picky. If you do this to yourself, you are letting a rank amateur tattoo you. Tattoos by amateurs are not known for turning out well. Please reconsider.

I think that the wiser choice would be to have a professional mark your body with your artwork for you.
Drawing with a pencil and using a tattoo machine are two VERY different things. If you still want to tattoo yourself, get an apprenticeship and go from there.
(Edit: All I'm saying is that I wouldn't blindly start inking your body. Essentially, do what you want...but if you want it to look good and EXACTLY as it would on paper, you'll need some skill and know-how. The people who ink my body have 20+ years of experience, so I readily trust them more than myself at the moment to do tattoos. Because of lots of little details involved self tattooing is not as simple as some people think. That was more a warning to be careful and don't expect a masterpiece from the get go. God, if you can't handle a little bit of criticism from people here, don't ask questions)

you wanna tattoo your own body?! I've heard of piercing your own body which is bad anyways. can u even draw? what about the high risk of infection....geez your just asking for trouble.....go see a professional. because seeing the worst tattoo artist is better than what you are doing. save yourself the trouble and money of buying equipment and go see a clean, reputable tattoo artist. because the money you are spending on equipment you can spend on paying for a good, clean, and professional tattoo job.
EDIT: you know you dont have to give an attitude....you should automatically know that if u ask that kind of question people...like me are gonna give these kinda answers.....ok I'll change my answer just for you
MY NEW ANSWER: try ebay. I know some one who tattooed themselves....they ended up with gangrene and had to have an arm amputation. have fun I'd LOVE to see those pics. and what it looks like months from now.
