I have lived in NY all my life and I have never attempted to go to Times Square on New Years Eve. If you like cold and crowds then be my guest but I never had any desire to go there because I cant take staying in the cold and I hate crowds so...

Here is the FAQ -- but I think you have the wrong idea about New Year's Eve in Times Square. It is just a bunch of drunk people standing out in the cold waiting for the ball to drop.
If you want entertainment, you need to go to a club, theatre or restaurant.

I have lived in New York for my entire life, whenever I go to time square for New Years I can hear nothing, I can see nothing and I end up being shoved aside, my recommendation; stay home and watch it on T.V
