Honestly, it means he's not interested. What you should translate that into is "I'm a schmuck so no....but I'll regret it later" :) You don't need to exhaust your energy on someone who isn't worthy enough to recieve it and this jerk sounds like just the kind of person. Move on, keep yourself open to the guy who will say "RIGHT now, NOT later" Good luck!

When they say that, it sometimes means that they are just to overrun with other things that they don't have time to have any downtime with someone they truly care about. He may have problems with home, school, work, friends. etc., and may be a little bit overloaded at the moment. Once he gets all his work/problems together, then there is a good chance that he will be able to go out with you, because there is probably a good chance that he might like you, too!

One of two things . . .
He holding out for "something better", but wants you as a fallback, or
He has a lot going on right now and doesn't have time for dating.
Just move on, he's not really interested. If you make yourself available to him later, in my opinion he will not respect you.

I'm sorry, but it really seems like he means no. He was just trying to be kind and not hurt your feelings.
