DISCLAIMER: the following is only an answer to the question given. It does no longer unavoidably reflect my own beliefs. before each and every thing, it really is had to appreciate that Evolutionism and Creationism aren't from now on at the same time unique. the in common words time at the same time as both are seen as such is at the same time as A) An Evolutionist rejects all threat of a larger capacity. 2) Creationists insist on six 24-hour days. second, One ought to look on the reasoning in the back of the aforementioned communities way of questioning. As i have by no skill been an atheist, i will not grant an reason of their thoughts so i am going to bypass that area. Now, the 6 24-hr days human beings, come to their end by interpreting the first financial disaster of Genesis, highly the word "evening and morning" happening after each and each and every "day". even with the undeniable fact that, it truly is exciting to video reveal that the Scriptures position the creation of the solar, moon and stars on day 4. This opens up the threat that "evening and morning" aren't from now on touching on a literal 24-hour day, even with the undeniable fact that the starting up and end of an era.

from what i understand:
evolutionists believe that we 'evolved' from microbes and such. a process known as macro-evolution.
creationists believe in the creation story written in the Bible where God creates the world in seven days.
a lot of people get confused as these beliefs are not completely seperate - some people believe in a mix between both (where adam and eve are cave men)
personally i like to believe the creation story, its simple and plausable (as im a christian). really i dont think it matters too much why we're here, it matters much more what we do here.

One believes in evolution, the other believes in creationism, apart from that there must be a difference in the way that they think in order to lead them to their conclusion.

Why do they have to be mutually exclusive?
I don't see why God couldn't have created the original basis of life and used the process of evolution to adapt them to a changing world.

Same as the difference between someone who 'believes' that babies come from fertilization of the egg by sperm and someone who believes babies come from storks.
