Ring worm is a lay term for a type of fungal infection. The areas, which normally form in a circular pattern, are often 'itchy'

They certainly can be. Contrary to common belief they are also not only carried by cats. You can pick them up by almost all mammals and in dirt or sand if you garden or have been to the beach lately. Interestingly enough, some people are more suseptible than others: if two people are exposed only one may get it. One of the easiest treatments is an antifungal, and one of the best is Monostat (yes, the yeast infection treatment). Note that it can take a couple of weeks to clear up completely, but you should begin to notice an improvement within a couple of days (decreased redness, itching).

if it a ringworm you would be suprised at some of the HOME Remedies that work.

Cover it with clear fingernail polish. It calms the itching /dries it up/and goes away in about a week.Plus it's cheaper then the medician at the drug store.
