Your grandad has a lovely kind & caring grandchild in you,he must be so proud. I presume you have been told that your grandad is dying,if not please believe that some cancer sufferers do get better. Whan my lovely Dad died of cancer all of the family spent time alone with him & told him how much we loved him & also anything else we wanted to say to him. Those times with him are such precious memories now, My children saw their Grandad with me after he died & it was a wonderful last memory of him,he looked so peaceful, young & just like he was sleeping. It was not scary at all,& i would recommend you do the same. At his funeral all the family got involved,me & my brother did readings,my older brother some about my dad, which was lovely,my partner sang one of my dads favourite songs & all 4 grandchildren gave one special memory each of their wonderful Grandad. They spoke from the heart & I think you shoud do the same. Although we were really sad, we made his funeral a celebration of his life, I am sure that is whwt he would have wanted. I know this is a terrible sad time for you and your family, I still feel sad & miss my Dad now & he died 4 years ago. You will never forget him & am sue you will have wonderful memories of him, I know I do. You & your family are in mt thoughts at this sad time.

I don't mean to be rude but spend what time he has left with your grandad and stop planning his funeral already. I'm not sure you should even be thinking about what you can say or do - especially not on here. A funeral reading is from the heart - something that means everything to the person who has passed or about his life. Its certainly not supposed to be from input on Y.A - whats personal about that. I think you should feel a little ashamed when your grandad is still here and you're thinking of his funeral. Stop writing tributes from here and get round to your grandad and get to know the man before its too late. Then you'll know what to say yourself when the time comes. x

Just be your normal self. Reflect on a time when he did something for you that was funny, something you both laughed about. Reflect on something you learned from him that would take you through lifes trials. Say you learned a lot from him, that he was very wise. Say he was your friend as well as your grandad. Say he was a great man to go to when things were tough because his advice was always the best. Say how much you miss him, how much he meant to you.

I can't say anymore because it reminds me of how much I miss my dad, and how much he gave to me through his own wisdom.

I wish I could tell you of the day he passed over - it wasn't the sad day I had expected. He shared something very very special with me and it told me that there is a life after death. My father was met by his mum and he was so happy to go believe me. My dad was very special to me - I'm sure your grandad is the same to you.

Good luck with your strength. You are a special person.

My Grandad was a very special person, who i loved very much and have very special memories of him and i. he is not really gone, he is just on a different ship than i am right now, but we will get on the same ship together one day. he would like nothing more than people not be sad but rejoice in the fact that he is on the right ship.

Dont mean to sound funny, but the best thing you could do is spend as much time with your Grandad as you can and do things together.

On the question, keep it simple, Say what a great man he was and how you loved him and loved spending time with him. How he made you laugh.

Only you can decide the things to say because they have to be heart felt, but why don't you think of all the happy times, the funny times, the way you remember him and then.......TELL HIM BEFORE HE DIES.

With respect, a reading is there to help everybody else remember him. If you tell the truth...all of the people who really knew and loved him will understand and enjoy the words you say.

Good luck..it's a lovely thought!!!

Hi! Best advice I can pass on is focus on the happy memories and funny stories you hold dear. Also, buy an empty box for your nearest and dearest so they can fill it with cards, photos and maybe gifts or personal stuff they have relating to your Grandad. Spend as much time with him as you possibly can, you won't regret it. God Bless.

Good luck - I wanted to do the same for my Grandma, but there is no way I could have managed it.
Why don't you talk about some of the happy/fun times you had together, something that everyone else can also relate to, that showed a particularly well known side of his character, for example.
