I like it...a lot! Seems of late, people want their freedoms but don't want to work for them or to see that the next generation has the same freedom.

Good and bad. This country would not be able to adopt such a policy now. It would force people into the service that do not want to be there, and that would cause even more problems. The military needs people who want to serve, not those who were forced to. However it would teach the young adults of today discipline and respect, which is severely lacking these days. In my opinion the benefits of such a system far outweigh the risks and I would vote yes on such a bill.

Have to agree with big jake cause the military did me good.

The reason I joined was not because I felt it was a patrioric thing to do, (I love my country, but hate my goverment, of course Im not a fan of any goverment) but thats my opinion.
I just new I didnt have the money, grades, and most of all the commitment to go to college (would of droped out). Me personally I didnt like the military, I had a good time and it did me very good, just wasnt for me. And its not for everyone, but if I can do my time I dont see why anyone else cant.
But I dont like the ideal of it being madatory.

Good for them, even good for India too.

Israelis are living in the middle of arrogant, barbaric muslim countries. They're successfully resisting them. Muslims, wherever they are do not like peaceful co-existance. Israelis do the same policy to them.

It's not a bad idea, but they'd have to come up with a whole lot of very low level jobs for all the high school dropouts to do.
