WPC = Women Police Constable

DC = Detective Constable

The letters on a police officers clothing identify the station to which he or she is attaced.

S.O. will be refered to as Sierra Oscar (as per the NATO Phonetic alphabet) and will refer to a station. I think Sierra Oscar is the code used to represent Sun Hill station is the TV Drama 'The Bill'

It depends on where you from is the answer from the police officer here, it can stand for your station but in london they are give 3 numbers it stands for the borough......too many stations would have the same phonetic letters etc
