I prefer to be called beautiful. Pretty, to me is like a step up from cute. It's more girlish than womanish to me. Pretty sounds more superficial.
Beautiful to me implies that not only are you physically attractive, but that the essence of who you are shines through and THAT is the thing that makes you beautiful rather than just pretty or cute.
Now I have that song True Colors by Cindy Lauper in my head =)

Pretty and beautiful are closer than "hot" and beautiful. Pretty girls tend to be younger. The softer, not yet fully matured face can easily be described as pretty. Beautiful would probably fit more with features that are set and have come together naturally. And beautiful tends to move you on the inside more. Like your chest and stomach and mind, all go,"WOW!" at the same time. Pretty just makes you smile. It's not as "strong" as beautiful.

I think it would be better to be called beautiful.
I would take pretty as like a compliment, but beautiful always just is that much better. And when I think of 'pretty' i think of those makeup-y fake girls, but beautiful is when you don't even have to try. In my opinion.

From my point of view, when I say a girl is HOT, it usually means i'd hit it.
If I say a girl is pretty, I find her attractive, but it is not meant as a sexual comment. Although that doesn't mean I'm not sexually attracted to her.....it just means that I don't view her simply as a sex object.
Jessican Simpson is HOT.
My girlfriend is BEAUTIFUL, which in my opinion is MUCH better.

Beautiful is better, but pretty is ok too. Beware of being called cute however.

Beautiful is more all encompassing including more things rather than pretty that always seems so superficial in my mind. Great question!

beautiful.....i'm so tired of being called cute! ugh!! pretty just means your average and thats okay...but its more a compliment to be called beautiful!

when i tell a girl shes pretty i mean she looks good, when i say shes beutiful i mean she is like the prettiest girl in the world , hope this helps
