Dye faded black hair?

Question

I typically dye my hair black, but I'm looking to dye it a different color. Anyway, most of my hair has faded back to the normal brown (it doesn't hold color very long as I had bleached it for a different color), but it's still pretty dark. Do you think it'd be safe to redye it a different color or will the black totally botch it up?

Maybe you can dye it chocolate brown.
