sorry to rant but nuffy?? what are you on ?

"Nearly every one of the 5 million people who live in Ireland have relations in the New World"???

You can't just make up a value like that- that's as good as saying nearly all of the people in the USA don't own a passport - I know the percentage is high but that doesn't make it acceptable to lump everyone together in the same category!

I am from Ireland and I have NO relations in America. Add my sisters also that makes three of us, my parents hmm 5...

And "in the 1800s one million Irish people immigrated to the USA- half were Catholic"? I'd like to know your source. I seriously doubt there were half a million non-Catholic people living in Ireland then certainly not half a million who had to leave. The vast majority of non-catholics were Anglicans and were wealthy planters supported by the government in London given free land and hence had a healthly income.

I was going to say a website but the one above beat me to it!!I just had to comment on "nuffys" answer...It's so annoying when someone does a huge long answer containing absolutly NOTHING relevant to the question.and besides we can all copy and paste....idiot!!
