It depends on where you live, of course. Lots of places have alcohol-free celebrations for families. Try doing a google search for Family New Years Eve and your town or city.

Another option is to host your own party. We've started a tradition of inviting all the neighborhood families with kids to our house for New Years Eve. The adults hang out upstairs, and the kids play in the basement. I have activities for the children so it's not just random chaos. It's a fun, non-stressful way to get together with other adults while the kids have fun together.

If you don't have other kids or families around, you could have a party for just you and your son. Make fancy-looking snacks and put your drinks (sparkling apple juice for him!) into champagne glasses. Decorate your own paper hats and play games or watch a movie. If he gets tired early you could count down the new year ahead of time with noisemakers and confetti.

Have fun!

I don't know where you live but I live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida and every New Year's Eve the city of St Pete has a celebration called the First Night. It is for families and there is no drinking allowed. It is really geared for the children and I am told it is awesome. I am raising 2 young grandchildren and I would go but it is against my own rules to go anywhere on New Year's Eve. There are too many drunk people out there for my taste so we have always stayed at home. Even when our children were small.

What we did do though was we always kept every ones little ones and threw a party for all of the children. We serve children's food and drink and we have balloons and we have noise makers. We serve Welch's Sparkling Grape juice at midnight and we have a grand old time. We used to throw the party for our children and their friends and now we do it for our grandchildren and their friends.

actual, the terrific place to be with a 4 year previous on New year's Eve is at homestead. Order in or make a definite food, purchase noise makers and occasion hats....have fun interior the warmth temperature and convenience of your place... that way if the 4 year previous falls asleep, you may kiss him at night, conceal him up and picture approximately how fortunate you're.

We just get together at home with some family, get together a great dinner and junk food.
Then we stay up playing, having fun, and watch the ball drop on TV.
My children are 2,5, and 7.

I know I can't tear my 3 yr old daughter away from here: http://www.pumpitupparty.com/locations.html

It's geared towards birthday parties but they have "drop in" hours too and it's only $4 for drop in.
