I'm no where near the end of my relationship and we laugh and giggle about how and where we meet.

Don't know if it's a science but that's what usually happens to me ... when me and someone grow apart. We stop talking about a future , forget about what's happening in the present, and start reminiscing about the past. usually after that it's a matter of time before we stop talking, and then eventually stop even seeing each other.

Sure... why not? My ex-girlfriend and I are still good friends. We still talk about it. They are fond memories. How you met and all that shouldn't reflect on how you ended.
