Unless the particular model is "hot," like certain models of video games, then prices will generally be cheaper between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Also, "George Washington Birthday Sales" in February are another good time to look for sales on electronics - sales are slow because everybody is trying to pay down the Christmas time debt on the credit cards, hence the stores' attempts to move inventory.

I've seen several marketing studies claiming that the market for digital SLR cameras will saturate some time next year. If true, you should see some good bargains dSLR cameras by next Christmas.

It can be either.

On hard to get items (like new Playstation) the prices will be higher before when demand is really high. On the other side, stores compete heavily for holiday shoppers and have lots of sales. Keep an eye out for sales on your camera and if you see a good sale jump on it now.

If they end up with a lot leftover they could be on sale afterwards too. Keep in mind also that electronic items go down in price faster than other kinds of products. because they are replaced with newer, better versions often. So if you wait a while you will eventually get a lower price. It's just a matter of how soon you really want it.

If you have gone on Black Friday then it would have been cheaper-many stores gave early bird specials right after Thanksgiving. But now you should wait till after Christmas, that's when stores do their holiday sales and this would be cheaper.

It's my opinion that many items, including certain electronics, are raised in price a little bit pre-christmas. Vendors lower price after christmas to get rid of excess inventory and prepare for new years gizmos.

Traditionally, many electronics are much cheaper after the holidays.
