I am trying to be a detention officer in north carolina about two years ago I tried marijuana it was not consistent meaning no more than two times I didn't smoke a whole blunt these times just a puff or two. jit was a stressful time when I was going through a medical discharge from army. Will this one stupid time mess up my chances of being a state employee or sheriff.

I think it's arrests they care about. Otherwise, don't ask, don't tell. But making excuses for bad behavior is not a good sign. You need to really look at that. Are there situations where you could picture yourself doing something illegal if you feel you have a good reason?

I sure hope not. We learned from Clinton you can admit to smoking pot and be President. But remember just being accused will stop you from being a Supreme Court Justice, or Attorney General or even a famous football player.

Well, in Alaska, if you've done it within 5 years, you are disqualified. Not sure about NC.

No, they'll probably embrace you. and just think, when you're a cop, you get free pot from the people you're supposed to be putting in jail.
