No you can't buy linseed oil at a supermarket or a hardware astore. You need pure linseed oil and you buy it at an art supply store.Just buy a small bottle for now or go in with a few of your fellow students and split the price of a large one and put it in small dollar store bottles with tight fitting lids. You do not need to mix it with the paint even student grade oil paints usually have enough oil. The only time I have mixed it with my paints is when some oil has leaked out of the tube because it is broken. Then I put it in a small bottle and mix in some oil. To thin my paint when I want to glaze or use a thin paint for rough sketching on my painting I mix in a small bottle 3 parts thinner to 1 part linseed oil

Where in the good Lord's name did you get that question from? Linseed oil is basically an industrial oil for artists and artisans.
If you are going to be putting any oil into your hair I would suggest an olive oil. It is the most common treatment for giving ones hair a fine lustre. However... getting it out of your hair is a long process of using a mild shampoo one shower after another. Once the oil is in your hair it is difficult to remove it with only a couple of shampoos'.
Please stay away from Linseed oil for any cosmetics.
Hope it goes well for you.

I've never heard about linseed oil used in someone's hair.It is a very acidic oil and yes can spontaneously combust .rags soaked with it or any other oil or solvent should be put outside in the trash quickly after use.Soaking them with water before throwing them out can help.I don't recommend you put this in your hair I think you will find it quite disagreeable.Olive oil in hair has been used since biblical times to help alleviate dryness of hair and scalp. But it will flatten the hell out of your hair and will take a few washings to remove. It can also cause huge zits to form on your scalp too.Conditioners from the drugstore are better.Don't let linseed oil dry on your paintbrushes either!

I only had one experience with linseed oil. It spontaneously combusted for some reason. It was a long time ago, but read directions carefully and be safe.
