You have to follow the laws in the old testament only if you are an Orthodox Jew.

Paul tells us that through the law we receive the knowledge of sin. How do you know what is right and what is wrong in God's eyes? That is the purpose of the law. Just because we are living in the New Testament tmes all of a sudden the things in the law are no longer wrong? So we can lie now? we can steal now? or commit adultry? or murder? In that sence the law is the same and never will change. The difference now is that we are given by the indwelling Spirit of God the ability to keep the law, which thye never could do under the Old Covenant.
Some Christians think "OK now I am free from the law so I can sin and God will just forgive me because of His grace". That is the farthest thing from the truth.
The law is not made for righteous people, they don't need it, but if you break the law then you fall under it's curse again.
1 Timothy 1:9 "...realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane..."

Christians are "not without law toward God, but under law toward Christ." (1 Cor. 9:21) Jesus gave the command that, in effect, epitomoized the first four or five of the ten commandments by saying "You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind." The rest of the ten commandments were summed up in his other command: "You must love your neighbor as yourself." (See Matthew 22:35-40; Deuteronomy 6:5; Leviticus 19:18)

Living "by grace" as you stated, does not mean that we're free to do whatever we want because Christ died for our sins. As James 4:17 shows: "Therefore, if one knows how to do what is right and yet does not do it, it is a sin for him." Since this was written after Christ died, it shows that for those who intentionally and willfully do what is wrong, they are sinning. Unless they are truly repentant (feel regret over what they've done), change their wrong course and ask God for forgiveness, they will not be forgiven for their sins.

You must read the entire BIble. Times in the old testament were before the birth, death and resurection of Christ. Therefore, sacrificing animals etc are no longer needed because Jesus shed his blood as a sacrifice, this is our sacrifice too. We only need to follow Christ, confess our sins, accept the salvation, follow God and live by his instructions. When you give your life freely to Christ, you will be living in the grace of God and you will follow his instructions of how to live...that is how one is saved by grace. If you expect to live for yourself, you are not living under Gods instructions therefore you will not be saved by grace.

Typical Christian attitude.

What do you want to hear?

Oh yes go ahead rape anyone you want. JESUS WILL FORGIVE YOU!
Oh yes go ahead steal anything you want. JESUS WILL FORGIVE YOU!
Oh yes go ahead kill anyone you want. JESUS WILL FORGIVE YOU!
Oh yes go ahead lie all you want. JESUS WILL FORGIVE YOU!

Does this cover the Christian attitude? NO ONE TAKES RESPONCIBILITY FOR ANYTHING THEY DO? JUST LOOK FOR JESUS TO FORGIVE YOU AND WHATEVER YOU DO DOESN'T MATTER!

NO WONDER OUR WORLD IS SO SCREWED UP!
