Just for a period of 6 month. To stay more than that you need to extend your visa. And at this time you should provide a reason for extending your visa.

Unfortunately, it's very tough to get into Canada. You would need sponsorship and to have a job waiting for you. It may not be so easy to get a job as you think either; not everyone is Canada is wealthy by a long chalk, and although Canada weathered the recession better than most countries THIS time, they have often suffered through spells of high unemployment (up to 11%) Or you might be able to get a job...but it might be in some remote area where there is 6 months of winter and a 3 hour drive to the nearest large town.

seriously, though, you'd be breaking the law going about it that way. you can stay for 6 months as a visitor, then you have to leave, but maybe you could pop over the border to the states for a short stay and then come back? get in touch with the Canadian embassy.

you can go on visa waiver for 3 months but not work....you can apply for a visa it's not hard due to the commonwealth thing!

you might be able to rent a house but you will only be able to stay for 6 months.Have you checked on the cic website?
