I had a feeling that this guy at work liked me, but I wasn't sure until he really started hitting on me at the Christmas party. We've being talking a bit and he really wants to "hang out" sometime but I'm just not interested in him as anything other than a friend. He's an awesome guy and I truly want to be friends, I'm just worried that he won't want to (he's constantly hinting at more). How do I fix this without hurting him or losing a potential great friendship?

You can't. Men have a real hard time with the just friend thing, specially if they are attracted to the women. It sounds like he is attracted to you.

You have to be honest. Tell him that you are interested in being friends, but that's all for now. He won't like hearing that you just want to be "friends", but that is how you feel and you must be honest with him. He will have to deal with it his own way.

Tell him the truth -- that it's a really bad idea to date coworkers (and it is usually forbidden by most companies). That way he doesn't feel hurt and resentful about a personal rejection and you don't have to hurt his feelings.

Be honest with him. Tell him that you think he's a nice guy and you would like to be his friend, but you don't want to take it further then that.

Honesty is the best policy, tell him. It is the rare occasion that relationships at the work place ever work.

Just politely let him know how you really feel. The sooner you let him know the better. Otherwise he might feel that you are just leading him on and eventually feel cheated.

Introduce him to your boyfriend (if you have one) or get one of your closest guy friends to act as your boyfriend and introduce him to your co-worker, if this doesn't work set him up with one of your girlfriends. He'll get the message!!!
