In talking with my three year olds about the sun, and the world, I asked them (twins) if they knew who made the world, and one of them said Santa, and we laughed.

The other one said God. And followed it up with "Why did God make us?" and I said "Us who?" and she said "All the people".

So, out of the mouths of babes, whats a good way to explain to a three year old why God made people?

(Im not new to the board, I know Im going to get alot of Gods not real answers from non believers, and why would you teach your kids that answers, so save your time, I wont read them.)

God made us because He loves us. We were made in His image and made to praise God 24/7...God loves us soo much that He sent His only son, Jesus so that we may have eternal life Him up in heaven.

God made people to worship Him. That pleases Him very much. He wants those that believe in Him to know Him, and love Him more than anything else.

God knows that terrible things happen on the Earth. He is making sure that those that believe in Him end up where He is. So He watches them careful, and with lots of love.

God made people because He knows that certain people will believe that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to lead the way. So we learn from the Bible what He said, and try to trust Him for what he said.

(I would then go into things like John 3:16 and John 14:1-4)

(Matthew 6 when they are ready.)

God made us so that we can share our testimony to the unsaved so that they may be saved also. We are here to worship. Even though we all fall short of the glory of God, it is our duties to share our faith with others. Someday all those that have excepted Jesus Christ as our savior will enter the kingdom of God. At the age of three a child does not understand everything. but the Holy Spirit can put a desire to know more.

Stop and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. HE will give you the right words.

For rodie5582 Jesus did not creat hell for you or any of us. If you allow me to I would like to share my testimony with you and send you a gift for Christmas (cd so that you can listen to it). Jesus loves you and payed the ultimate price so that you could be in heaven.

Oooh that's a tough subject to explain to 3 year olds. I'm not really sure how much of this would be appropriate for that age but here you go. I would try to explain that God doesn't NEED humans. And he would not be lonely without us. But he had the power to create and He wanted to. Our purpose on earth is to bring glory to God.

We are here for Gods glory. That is hard to explain to a three year old but if you just ask God to help you He will give you the words.

I'm not a Christian (I'm Pagan) but I know how you feel about the Athiests.

I'm not going to get into my personal beliefs on that matter because they don't exactly line up with Christian theology, and they would confuse the litte ones.
I'd ask them why they like to do hobbies such as drawing, or better yet if they have a pet, why did they get it.
They will probably say "Because I like it, it's fun for me, I get satisfaction out of it, it's my talents, etc."
Then explain that "God" is also full of many talents, and that it would be a waste for him to just sit around and do nothing,
Not only would he be bored, but it would be a shame to waste all of his potential.
So, he created life and the universe and so on...

I tell my kids God makes us, so we can live our lives and turn our Salvation to Christ. If we accept God's teachings and act Christ 'like' our soul gets to spend eternity with God, in a wonderful place called heaven were there is no sickness, sadness etc...If anything children living by the true and acurate teachings of God-it helps them become morally upstanding. God is someone for children to turn to -He is always there.

Tell your kids this.

"The reason your kids like playing with each other and other children is because God created us to be like Himself. To be relational.
That is why He created us, so that He would not be lonely. He wants to be a Father to all of us and for us to Love and need Him always as you also hope your children always will.
The way you feel about your children right now is exactly what God feels about all of us. Tell them that.

God made us so HE would have us to teach, walk with, and talk with.

If you will notice in Genesis before the fall of man. God loved to walk ant talk with His creation , mankind. God loved his creation all the world, and us especially, that HE would come and just spend countess hours enjoying just being here, and spending time with us. That is what HE wants us to do today, just get alone in His presence, and enjoy being with Him. No agenda, no requests, no do for me, just spend time sitting in His lap and looking into His face as your babies love to look into yours, or at least they did when they were babies.
