No, love does not bring people together. Love comes "after" the two people have actually come together, learned each other's habits, understands each other's feelings, and are willing to make sacrifices for each other. Basically, what brings people together is attraction. Whether it's physical or emotional attraction, that is what will draw people closer, and eventually together. But always remember that it is the "love" that will "keep" you together.
