Me and my friend were riding in my car. My friend was driving. I have fictious plates. My plates go on my other car because I cant pass the E-Check. Anyway, we got pulled over and my friend says he's not paying the ticket or going to court. Who will they come after for the fine though?

The person driving the vehicle is responsible, period. He will have to pay the citation and they will come after him if he doesn't.

He can, however, come after you in civil court if he wishes to challenge the fact that you knew about the bogus plates.

You should be a better friend....have him pay the citation, and you pay him back. The citation, I'm sure, is for "Improper use of registration".....that isn't a moving violation or anything, just get it paid and be done with it.

Niiiicceeeee. Freakin' hacker.

Did you put the plates on the car??

They are going to go after the person driving the car whether or not you were in the car.

Kind of like...if I am driving your car (regardless of the plate issue) and I get nabbed on a second offense OUIL (drunk driving) or second DWLS (driving while license suspended), they are going to take the plate of the car I am driving (at least here in MI they will swipe the plate) and not go to my own home to get the plate off MY car.

A friend of mine was driving someone elses vehicle that had no insurance, but the driver was insured. My friend got the ticket for driving an uninsured vehicle and the owner of the car got a ticket for the same thing as well as a suspended license. Its your car, your responsibility. If your friend drives your car, they may end up in trouble as well, but you will ALWAYS pay a consequence.

They will issue a FTA (faluir to appear) for whoever the car is registered to/ticket was written for. And yes if it not dealt with they WILL issue a warrent, might not come after you but the next time you talk to the cops youll go to jail until you come up with the money for the ticket and fees at that point. DEAL with it.

They will come after you. It's your car with your fake plates on it. BTW using plates that are licensed to another car is a felony. Your friend will get whatever law violation he earned. May even include stupidity.

Not much of a friend if he's not going to take some responsibility, is he? Is it your name on the ticket or his?

Both, him for driving it, and you for having it on the car if it does not get settled.

It is your fault, he could even sue you in court for the damges, if he did not know.

So he got it, but you give him themoney to pay it, your fault.

Depends on what the citation was for!
For lousy driving, your friend, for screwing with wrong license plates, you.

Either way, you should pay for having fake plates.
