Depression can play a very destructive role on a relationship. Most people suffering from depression will start to separate them self from everybody else. They lose interest in sex, family functions and for that matter daily living. If you are or know someone that is suffering from depression there is all kind of treatment out there that will help get you back to your "old" self.

Depression has an effect on all aspects of life. It can cause increased stress due to the depressed persons decreased sex drive, decreased desire to participate in the usual social activities the couple normally participates in, general lack of energy for the relationship, and withdrawl from "fun" activities. Some depressed persons suffer physical pain which causes them to withdraw further. Sleep disruption may also have detrimental effects on a relationship because of extreme sleepiness/daytime sleeping and nighttime wakefulness. Also effects on appetite may have bearing on weight loss or gain and self esteem related to these changes. I strongly urge you to seek medical attention or you to encourage your loved one to seek medical attention for treatment. You are not alone. and there are effective treatment options available.

very bad effects. it destroyed two relationships i was in, well not really, but set them on the path to destruction. because i didn't love myself, i couldn't love anyone else right. i depended on these people too much and in the end it hurt me.

me and my first fiance used to fight all the time because i refused to take my antidepressants because i felt like a failure taking them. he used to beg me, yell at me, threaten to leave me, all kinds of stuff just so i would take them.. he swore i was a different person when i was on them. i don't know, and i never will because i am not taking any now either since i have no insurance and i can't afford it.

i realize i probably need something, but i am doing pretty good right now without anything. if i ever got back into a relationship with my ex i probably would take something because my extreme depression while we were together was too much for him to handle. (although the fact that i was pregnant probably had something to do with it.)

Terrible effects.
They may lose interest entirely in sex.
They may want to just stay home all the time and not participate in favorite activities.
They may sleep too much, and frustrate their partner.
They may rather just lay down and do nothing instead of doing household chores or taking care of family responsibilities

Everybody gets it.The person with whom he has the relation must have the common sence to know it and take him places of interest that he likes.
