Has anyone here had the mini gastric bypass, and Im talking about the Mini(laparoscopic)Gastric Bypass and if so how was your experience? Does anyone have any other alternatives for a 35 yr. old mom of 4 that has exhausted herself dieting and cant move well to excersize until she sheds some of this weight. Please refrain from the usual jokes at my expense. Thanks.

I don't know about the MINI gastric bypass surgery. I knew several people years ago who had the major one done. A lot of people mention the weight can go right back on. It doesn't sound like you're thinking this will be an easy solution. Dieting will not end with the surgery-- in fact, your diet after it is far worse than what you wil have endured up to this point. What all those who underwent the surgery told me is that:
*one person had to lose weight BEFORE the surgery, because anesthesia was too dangerous for them at their original weight.
*if you think traditional dieting is bad, it is FAR worse with the surgery: if you overeat, you will be very sick, period. You will have to live on a VERY, I really mean VERY limited diet for the rest of your life, but especially during recovery. You will be able to eat VERY little and keep it down if there are complications especially, and you will have no choice but to consume nothing but the healthiest of foods w/multivitamins because often you cannot consume enough for sufficient nutrition that your body needs to function daily.
*you will more than likely need to have reconstructive surgery because massive weight loss in a short time means you will have skin hanging off of you. This is becoming part of the surgery package, but not always.
Best plan: seek out a doctor's advice on how to approach exercise & perhaps a dietician.

You shouldn't get gastric bypass surgery unless you are extremely obese. Some people are under the assumption that having gastric bypass surgery will fix their weight problem. Having surgery is not a quick fix to the problem. The only way to lose weight is good dieting and lots of exercise. You should consider visiting http://www.mypyramid.gov and track your diet and how much you are eating daily. Having gastric bypass will do more harm to you than good. You should consider taking a nutrition class. I am currently taking one right now. Most people who get it this surgery done usually end up gaining all the weight back. Very few people keep the weight off after having surgery. You should really reconsider your options before getting surgery done.

Enroll in an active skill class, such as sculpture or perhaps ceramics.

Buy a plant for your office—watering it will make you more active.

Keep a little water glass, which you must refill often, instead of a sizable water bottle on your workspace.

Drink lots connected with water. (You'll stand up for refills and trips towards the bathroom. )

The problem with fat people is that they always give themselves excuses.... You know why you are fat, right? It's because you eat too much. Stop eating so much and you will loose weight. Even if you get the surgery, you will gain the weight back if you keep eating a lot like you do right now. You have to learn how to control your appetite.

I believe should you shrink your own stomach as well as get used to eating a smaller amount, it will help.
