Try soft music, mine enjoyed Bach and Mozart. Make sure she is comfy and not too hot or cold. Touching the back of the neck gives a good idea of her overall warmth. Some babies like the rocking motion which is a leftover from being in the womb and being rocked when you were walking. You don't say how old she is or if she is crying before she sleeps. If she isn't don't worry too much she will settle into a pattern. If you worry you will transfer your anxiety to your baby. If you are still not happy contact your local nurse or midwife, they are happy to help. Try talking to a friend who has an older baby.

Hope all goes well.

How old is she? Try to follow a routine, like give her a warm bath at the same time every night and give her a nice warm bottle or let her nurse if you are breastfeeding. Depending on her age, you may be able to give her a little bit of rice cereal in her bottle. Try giving her a pacifier and rocking her to sleep.

i know a lot of people are gonna totally disagree with me on this, but it works!! wrap her up tightly in recieving blankets and put her to sleep on her stomach. the odds of SIDS are so miniscule that it really isn't a factor. if she can move her head from side to side, she's fine. make sure there aren't too many toys or other things in the crib and she'll be fine. i did it with my son and he was sleeping almost completely thru the night at 2 months. when she's on her back, she has a "falling reflex" which is why she startles easily and wakes up panicked. most adults don't even sleep on their backs. try it and you'll finally get some rest.

Sometimes they get over tired and refuse to sleep. I bath my son to relax him. If it's not possible to do this I'll put him in bed stroke his head or stroke down his nose from his forehead singing gently to him. Once he is relaxed I leave him to go to sleep. They say it's better for them if they an get themselves to sleep. This is because if they wake up in the night they will be able to get themselves back to sleep.

I have heard that car rides have an amazing effect, something about the hum of the engine, and the vibrations of the car is soothing.
