Maybe because the content isn't fiction but the many additions and editing has made it so. The librarian sounds confused so would I. Where do you put a book that originally had some truth in it until it was chopped and changed many times to suit the modern world.

If there is a space on the fact shelf, you can put a copy of the Quran there- FACT. A single letter has not been changed and it is still valid today, a truly timeless book that doesn't need to change with the world.

Because the Bible is classified in the "Religion & Mythology" section, in the Dewey 200s. I realize that you are probably trying to make a "statement" with your shelving misdeeds but your opinion is probably falling on deaf ears and all you're accomplishing is making more work for someone else who is trying to keep shelves in order.

If you truly have an objection to its current classification, I suggest that you have a conversation with the persons in charge of cataloging and classification in your library. They are the ones ultimately responsible for making this determination. Until then, put it back in its normal location. No sense making a nuisance of yourself.

A library is a place where books are kept and read.

What are you doing there?
