stretch for 1/2 hour after a short jog and you have warmed up. As you get better increase the intensity and duration of the stretching session. Each stretch should be held for about 30 seconds and repeated one or two times. I'm very flexible and used to stretch almost everyday for about an hour to an hour a half. That hour included warming up and some abdominal work too... use your common sense and just include it to an exercise routine.

I was a dancer in highschool and also took gymnastics. I used to be super flixible as well. After having my first son I was afraid to do any stretches ( I was naive!) anyway, I now have 3 kids and my youngest just turned 7. I decided I wanted to get my flexibility back. I started tae kwon do in Feb of this yr and I can do the splits again as well as I can kick over my husbands head - he is 5'10"! So - stretch routinely and try some martial arts or something that requires your using the flexibility. This should get you flexible quickly. Good luck!

You can achieve this by starting to stretch everyday when you get out of bed, and start an exercise routine. Walking is good if you gave a safe place to walk. Take yoga, you will definitely be able to stretch after a month of yoga. Get yourself a DVD and do it from home, you don't have to go to a gym or have a instructor. Stretching each morning will make you feel better, I do it and I don't get cramps in my legs like I use to and my back doesn't hurt as much.

LMAO...omg me too!!! I was thinking about it last night...although I get a workout at work...there was a long period in my life..where i was'nt getting much excersise..as a kid i did gymnastics and was quite a pretzel lol...i also ran...
I think the best thing we can do is..start stretching..not to far...only what is comfortable...and slowly..and hold the stretch for atleast 8 seconds...

Yoga training is a very tough path of stretching beyond stretching, concentration, meditation and knowledge and belief that it works perfectly.
