I assume the next part is "ame apartment, how long does it take both painters to paint on apartment?"
the rate problem is 1/5t + 1/3 t = 1
or the amount painted by the five hour painter in time t will be the time time the rate... same for 1/3 t painter 1 apartment/hour so t is in hours. or 1 7/8 hours. 7/8 hours is about 52.5 minutes.
