Why do they call it 'getting your dog fixed' if afterwards it doesn't work anymore?

wftlol... Your name says it all. Why do they call them "stairs" inside but "steps" outside?

Because the United States has problem with over population of dogs and cats so bad that we cannot find every animal a good home there for it has become a problem. Problems need remedies or the need to be "fixed." That is where the term "fixed" comes in. Once your animal (dog or cat) has been spayed or neutered you've "fixed" your problem.

I've also heard spay and neutering called "being cut."
