Would you tell a recent ex girlfriend (you broke up with her) at the ned of a phone conversation that she should call you and that you two should get together for coffee sometime.....just to be nice....or would you mean something more by it?

Simply because you stop seeing a person in a 'romantic' way and 'break up' with them, doesn't mean that you wouldn't want to keep in contact with them for friendship and conversation.

At least that's how two mature people who decide to part company should handle things in a perfect world.

If you broke up with her then you should move on and try to stay away. Being nice these day does not pay off. her friendship could mess things up for the next relationship. you're probably just lonely right now and remembering the good times. But you will forget her once you meet someone and you would not want her to be around Plus you broke up with her for a reason right?
good luck.

It could be either way with me.

You'll need to know more than that to make a decision about his intentions. Ask yourself whether you'd want to get back together with him, knowing why you broke up in the first place. Then decide if you want to take him up on the coffee, knowing he may or may not be serious about you.

It could be very, very good...or it could be nothing. I'd say it's about 3:1 odds that it's nothing, though.

If you think there's possibility of you two getting back together at later point or that you want to keep her around for a potential booty calls and screw with her emotions go right ahead and suggest getting coffee. Otherwise, tell her you'll see her around and wish her luck.

It's trouble if your relationship's not solid. It tried forming a friendship with my ex but she couldn't understand I wasn' t trying to start things up again, so I haven't talked to her in a while.

She was a big part of my life and I wasn't ready to write her off, but that's only possible if she was willing to accept i had moved on. If that comforts you at all.

I don't stay friends with my exes. There's reasons why they are exes.
If I bumped into one downtown, I'd be friendly, but real life isn't Seinfeld with Jerry & Elaine.
I certainly wouldn't go out for coffee to "catch up" with our lives.

I never wanted to see any girl i broke up with ever again - not for coffee - not for more - THAT's what it means to break up.

Sheesh.

if the man could 4get everything they have have when through (dating doin stuff 2gether)then he might have a chance to be his friend but if he is not then not encouragable because the emotion is there, he might be upset when he saw his gf dating and kissing some1.

I would say that you would be leading her to believe that you might want to get back together
