If prayer works, why are there no doctors clinics where you go in and the doctor simply says a prayer for you.

Would you go to such a doctor if you needed an urgent heart by-pass operation, or would you prefer to go to hospital to be operated on ?

Bess you missed the point. If prayer works, there would be no need for you to have an operation.

id rather put my trust in man/science then prayer.

there is no statistics that prove that prayer will increase a certain outcome. it all has to do with the bodies ability to heal itself and the bodies ability to fight off infections.

if everyone who has lost a limb, prayed that theirs grow back, i guarentee you the outcome will be the same as those who dont pray.

Because prayer doesn't work. It has the same effect as other placebo treatments.

There have been numerous attempts to study the effectiveness of intercessory prayer over the years, most of them have been small studies with mixed results, and frought with errors and invalid conclusions.

Last year JAMA published the largest and most scientifically rigorous study to date of the effects of prayer on outcomes in post surgery cardiac patients. (It was funded by the christian organization, The Templeton Foundation) The results were underwhelming. There was NO difference in outcome between those prayed for and not prayed for. In fact, the group of patients who were told they were being prayed for had slightly MORE complications, although this was not considered statistically significant.

Prayer is superstition, nothing more.

Also, what is a "unit of prayer"? Does a large number of strangers prayers have the same weight as prayers by family? Does a pope's prayer count for more than a parishioners?
Why does god require you to pray anyway? Does he not know of the concern until you pray to him about it? Why do you have to physically or mentally voice the words?

Fatih without Works is dead.

Though Faith is important, We need to do our part and do our work to make things better.

We consult with our doctor and consult with the Lord through prayer to help us know the direction. We can ask the Lord to guide the doctor. Through our research and the knowledge of the doctor and the inspiration form the Lord, we can be lead to a solution to our problem.

God has made proper ways for everything..its a generalize system.like when you are hungry , you eat... you can't just rely on prayers.......as he has created food for your hunger, for everthing he has given proper system to work .same for disease..He has given the knowledge about disease and their treatment to human so that they can treat it...Basically its again a blessing of God that He has enabled human to cure the diseases.everything is relative.and ultimately it is related to God.Btw i believe in both prayers and treatment, and have faith that if God wants me to get well, he will, otherwise not.and i also believe that medicines are effective becuase God has made them effective...

I'd prefer to have a doctor who prays for wisdom and steady hands during my heart by-pass. Also I want everyone praying for me too. All my friends and family. Like I would if they were sick.

most doctors think they are in fact God. I believe in the power of prayer, It has blessed me in so many ways. I personally would rather have a doctor pray for me. Prayers are answered by your faith and the faith of others.
