Ever since I can remember, I have had dandruff and I have not been able to get rid of it. I have a very dry scalp. I have tried different shampoos and some seem to work, but after a while they loose their effectiveness just like pain killers. What else can I try, home remedies, tricks, other shampoos, I'll try anything.

You need to use a shampoo that exfoilates your scalp but also moisturizes it. You also need to use a very good conditioner and rub it into your scalp well. Just because your scalp is dry, does not mean that you don't have to wash as often. People prone to dandruff should wash their hair every other day. Try T-Fal by Neutrogena, Desonex, Tegrin, etc. You also need to let the shampoo sit on your scalp for a few minutes to allow the medication to do what it needs to do. My daughter has eczema and dandruff and she had a problem until she started washing her hair a bit more often and rinsing very well and using a shampoo that my hair stylist gave her. It's called Exfoilate by Phillip Pelusi, not easy to find everywhere. Check with local beauty salons and see if anyone carries it.

I have exactly the same problem. All I do is use a shops own brand anti dandruff every day and it has stopped the problem. I do change brands nearly every bottle though, I switch between three types (unless there is an offer on something else).

You dont need to use expensive shampoos, just remember to wash often.

I have use a shampoo you can buy at beauty supply stores called Folicare. It helps clear the hair follicles, which is what seems to cause most my dandruff. I have also used some shampoos with Tea Tree Oil in them and certain ones work and others don't, this is if your dandruff is caused by psoriasis.

have you tried the aloe vera plant? It's very effective. All you need to do is get some of the gel from the green leaf... and rub that into your hair. you can blow dry or set your hair with that. If you keep it into your hair for like a week, check out the results and if you think it suits you then you can continue. Other natural oils you can use is the Shea Butter Oil, Rub the oil right into your scalp, not the hair (same goes for the aloe vera gel). Steam your hair with it too.

When you use dandruff shampoo really rub into your scalp and leave it in while you shave, wash your body, etc and then wash it out. That works for me. Hope I helped!

Have you tried Head and Shoulders. If there is more than one brand of Head and Shoulders, try as many as you can find.
