I don't believe in banning it. People should have the right to believe whatever they want to. Even if it doesn' t agree with what you believe. In time religion will fall without the help of man.

I agree to a point.
I believe people have the right to have faith in whatever they want.
I don't believe that there is a God or Jesus.
I believe humans were evolved from apes.
It says in the bible that incest is wrong yet we are supposedly the descendants of Adam and Eve? Gross
I use to be a Christian but the more I think about it the more I see Religion being a political debate. The bible has been re-written numerous times and its hard to know what is the truth and what was not.
I believe the bible is fiction...a story made up or twisted into something unreal. . Just like Santa Clause, The Tooth Fairy, Easter bunny, etc... When you are young, you believed so much that these things existed yet one day your belief came crashing down. I feel that its the same thing with Jesus.
Why do other countries have belief in another God? For all we know Budd ah could be the one true God. If in fact there is a God. The point is, its okay to have faith, it gives people hope. Its just where was Jesus and "God" during September 11th? Where was he when my mother died of cancer? Where was he during the Holocaust?
It is said that God creates Miracles, when infact its just luck. I do believe in luck if anything. Im not trying to stir up a debate or be preached to. These are just my beliefs and opinion. I have nothing against those that believe otherwise.
Peace to you all.

Banning faith does not end gay Bashing, or Racism, or Snobbery or any of the different thuggish, fat-headed prejudices bullies and bigots are to blame for. the individuals who think of that way might proceed to realize this with none help from faith. So, No. i do no longer believe Elton John. I DO think of the worldwide could be lots extra suitable off without faith and that's privileges in society and government might desire to be stripped away, yet no longer 'reason Elton John says so.

I think banning religion is a bit extreme. People have a right to their religious beliefs. Many religions do seem to promote hate. But remember, Elton is against hate, not God. In the article he mentioned that we're all God's people, God loves everyone, and that the religious leaders need to all get together and try to fix it. If they don't, who will?

It will not be too long before the authorities try to ban religion; in fact they will succeed until they attack the true religion.
Revelation 17:9-17 says:
"Here is where the intelligence that has wisdom comes in: The seven heads mean seven mountains, where the woman sits on top. And there are seven kings: five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet arrived, but when he does arrive he must remain a short while. And the wild beast that was but is not, it is also itself an eighth king, but springs from the seven, and it goes off into destruction.
“And the ten horns that you saw mean ten kings, who have not yet received a kingdom, but they do receive authority as kings one hour with the wild beast. These have one thought, and so they give their power and authority to the wild beast. These will battle with the Lamb, but, because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, the Lamb will conquer them. Also, those called and chosen and faithful with him will do so.”
And he says to me: “The waters that you saw, where the harlot is sitting, mean peoples and crowds and nations and tongues. And the ten horns that you saw, and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire. For God put it into their hearts to carry out his thought, even to carry out their one thought by giving their kingdom to the wild beast, until the words of God will have been accomplished. And the woman whom you saw means the great city that has a kingdom over the kings of the earth.”

I would love to see that. And before some idiot starts comparing that idea to Hitler let it be said that anyone that does their research will find Hitler thought he was doing God's work,he was not an Atheist. Further proof of how dangerous religion really is.

Nah, that would just encourage their persecution complex. We just need to better educate people so they'll stop thinking they have the right to control people's lives based on fairytales.

Considering I'm an anti-theist, I completely agree with him. Let's stop living in the dark ages.

So you're all for suppressing the freedom to believe. Your notion smacks of communistic thought. Trust me, rethink your position.
