I was watching TV and thinking about reality of life and I really do think that most men prefer an ugly women with a nice body over a very very attractive women with 50 extra pounds on her. I have seen plenty of men with some women that are just.....wow...thats all I can say, I mean you could scare someone with those faces but rarely with an overweight girl......your opinion?

I think it is hard to gauge what REAL people actually want or do not want based on TV. True the media is all about skinny right now but that is a passing fancy and has and will change regularly. Who knows, next year it may be that chubby is IN and all the skinny girls will be running to McDs or BK to try to pack on some pounds (wouldn't that be funny)...
Anyway, I think everyone is different really. I mean I have some friends who dig thick chicks and others who would rather put a bag over some uggo's head than have sex with a fat girl.
In real life, on the ground so to speak, there are no hard and fast rules and everyone has their own opinions on what is beautiful.
Although, I to have seen these folks with some of the UGLIEST girls (and guys) in the world who have great bodies... and I figure they must just have sex in the dark A LOT!
I think this goes along with the issues of brains over beauty, You know, how it seems most people would prefer someone who is hot even if they are AS DUMB AS A POST! Me, I would rather be with someone I can actually have a conversation with... after all, at some point you have to have more in common than just great sex or the relationship will not last.
In the end, I would STILL rather be fat and smart, at least I can diet... There is something at least.

I think this is a deep-rooted animalistic desire to reproduce with the healthiest specimen of the species. A bit like how wild animals prefer to have sex with other healthy animals- the runt of the litter is usually ignored. When men see overweight women, whether or not she had a Marilyn Monroe face, will also see 'fat' and equate 'fat' with unhealthy.
There are some gorgeous, larger ladies who would give any top model a run for her money in the looks department, but they remain single. Some larger females have thankfully built up a great deal of confidence, and a lot of guys are intimidated by this- especially combined with larger than life curves!
I don't think people should be overweight for health reasons but at the same time, people can look however they wish! I think it's unfair that the men's magazines act like "if your girlfriend isn't a size 10, 34DD, 5'8 stunner, then you're going out with a dog' attitude. Pathetic!

Although you are right in one part, you are wrong to pin-point and say someone is either fat or ugly. How do you know that these men with these "ugly" womenthink they are the most beautiful woman alive today? How do you know that to these same men these "fat" women aren't a complete turn-on? Not every enjoys or even remotely likes stick figures for women. And not everyone sees "ugly" as you put it. I've seen some mis-matched couples myself, and they each think the other is beautiful inside and out and doesn't give a damn about my opinion, your opinion, or anyone else's.

Ho-boy, and I'll admit that even I have had a couple of overweight women. However, they are a great deal of a better friend than any other female that I know, ugly or cute. They smile a lot, they dress nicer and they know how to have a good time without sex all the time.
If you see it how I've experienced it, you would learn that it doesn't matter what they look like. If they are nice to you, take the time to know them. I did, and learned that shallow people are retards.
Edit: Kirsten Dunst is an example of skinny, to me.

Personally, I disagree, 50# overweight is not really that big facial features would still be relevant.....Skinny girls may as well be 12 year old boys in my opinion I like women of substance

I would take the overweight pretty woman over the ugly skinny woman any day. At least my friends would say that she looks good instead of them saying "Dang, she is ugly! But she has a nice body"

I know a number of overweight to obese women, that are in happy long term relationships. Apparently, some guys do find them desirable...
Confidence is part of the key...no matter what one looks like, if they are confident and happy with who they are, they will attract other people...

I am sure a pretty face even on a woman a little over weight will turn a few heads - If she is unattractive and has large breast she will still turn heads.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.. Or my favorite.. There is a pot for every lid.. It just depends on what someone is looking for. But personally I do think it has a lot to do with confidence.
