What do you do to make your guests feel comfortable. What do you feed them. Do you take them places all day everyday. It's our first time entertaining a family from across the country and want to make their stay fun and pleasurable.

I clean the house, ask them ahead of time what they may want to eat for snacks and breakfast b/c i will plan dinners and have coldcuts etc for lunches.

i try to plan a few activities. sometimes it's just visiting the shoppes in town or going to the sands or even playing a fun inter-active game in the evening.

i also, have a few fold up drying racks from wal-mart so their towels and washcloths are in their room, since there isn't room for them in the bathroom.

just relax. bottomline...they are there to visit and see you and your family. just tell them where everything is and if they need anything to just go and get it themselves so they can feel like it's their home!!!

All our family lives 700 miles away, so we frequently have long visits from friends and family.

I think the biggest thing you can do is give them their own sleeping space, and own bathroom space, if youre home allows for it.

Plan meals that can either be eaten right away, or stuck in the fridge and still taste yummy later.

We pretty much do everyday on a whim. If they want to sleep in, they sleep, if the kids are up and want something to do, theres TV and internet and video games and toys and food. Then, once everyone is up we all sit down and talk about who wants to do what kind of thing that day.

Usually the gals want to go out and see the shops, and the guys want to see the coutnry side.

After a couple days of driving around, we give them a map and tell them we can either do something all together, or if theyre ready to be adventurous they can go explore.

Its just up to them as to what they're up for, and what we're up for. We dotn plan anything out in advance unless its a major event, like dining out or driving to some major point of interest.

Don't fill it with activity every minute of the day. It will be overwhelming to them. I don't know where you live, but maybe you could plan a trip to a museum or acquarium.
If they enjoy shopping, take them to a big mall or plaza.
When we had guests from California, we took them to our little historical museum and they spent hours just browsing and learning about my environment. They seemed to really enjoy it.
As far as food, I planned very simple meals like spaghetti & meatballs, we had steak on the grill and one night we ordered pizza and chicken wings.
Keep it simple. I'm sure they are coming to see you and don't want you to make a terrible fuss.

I always break out the booze. Nothing like a couple of stiff drinks to loosen things up.
