Unfortunately, controlling sodium intake is crucial to controlling hypertension. Reducing fats, and losing weight can also help with lowering your readings. Regular aerobic excercise can also help. You should also cut out the caffeine. Good luck.

I have had lots of success with Acupressure, this isn't dietary, but it really works, find someone in your area that knows Jin Shin Do Acupressure. It does wonders for the BP!!

Increase potassium intake (Lots of fresh fruits & veggies, rice & beans) Avoid caffeine & tobacco. Avoid aged cheese, avocados, chocolate, sherry, wine, sour cream & yogurt. Get plenty of sleep. Get moderate excercize.
