Pregabalin (Lyrica) is stabilizes the membrane of nerve cells similar to a seizure medication and as such it has no direct pain properties being used for chronic pain. Morphine is an opioid commonly referred to as a narcotic although it does not induce 'narco' or sleep in normally prescribed dosages and in contrast to pregabalin morphine is used for acute pain. Morphine is also used in chronic pain but only when 'weaker' pain medications have failed and thus there is no direct comparison between pregabalin and morphine.

Lyrica is a replacement for Neurontain, is not a pain reliever. It helps to stop the interruption of the synopses of the nerves calming them and does not work in the same manner as morphine.
I take Lyrica now, as a replacement to Neurontain and feel it works much better, I think. I also take Vicodine as I'm allergic to Morphine and Codeine. I was on the Fentanyl Transdermal System but became highly allergic to them and broke out. So, back to the Vicodine and the stomach pills to you from ulcers, the poop pills so you can, the pills so you stop, the whole mess again.

You cannot compare Lyrica to Morphine since they aren't the same type of drug. Lyrica is prescribed for nerve pain associated with shingles and diabetes. Morphine marketed as Avinza, an opioid and is prescribed for a different king of pain, not that coming from the nerves. Morphine in tablet form, Avinza does not happen to come in a 100mg tab anyway.
