Methan in IUPAC nomenclature, means CH3- group. The ol at the end means -OH group.Hence methanol, has molecular formula CH3OH. It is the first member of the series of alcohols;as it contains only 1 C atom. All organic compounds containing -OH group are called alcohols. If methanol is ingested by humans the consequences can be fatal.

CH3OH, because the methyl group is CH3.
-OH is an "-ol".

And please don't drink it, it's very dangerous and will make you blind.
