Because it's copyrighted. You wouldn't like it if you sat and made a big program for typing into, and it was all fancy, and you sold it for money, and one person bought a copy and copied it and gave it to all their friends would you?

The law regarding software is kind of screwy. When you buy a program like Microsoft Word you're not purchasing the program itself -- you're purchasing a license from Microsoft to use the program. In some cases you're allowed to use the program on more than one computer (usually as many as five computers), but in some cases you're only allowed to use it on one computer. These laws are based on the same principle as music recordings -- if people can download songs they want for free from websites like Kazaa or Napster, the record companies and artists don't make any money. Ditto that for Microsoft if people can get free copies of their programs from friends or neighbors or the Internet or wherever.

Because microsoft is an Internation Private company that "pays" their software developers to develop these user friendly and powerful software. And for paying their it sets a price money on each software (which includes the development cost, resource cost etc..). And it sets the price for each and every copy of software, that from where microsoft gets it Oxygen to Live or run. The license of the program is valid for a single or one n only system. but when u copies it, u are breaking the License conditions of company and software distribution (without the knowledge and permission of company or its owner). So that why it Illigal to copy an pirate paid softwares.
Use Linux and enjoy the free n happy life.

It is against copyright law because Microsoft "worked hard" to get the program made and should be entitled to royalties for their work. If you copy the program, then your getting something for free and they received nothing for their labors. That's why.

because they miss out on the royalties of the profit for the program. why should software houses produce programs and let you download them for nothing. if you value the program then PAY FOR IT . at the end of the day, they are a bussiness trying to make money but obviously not out of people like you..

yes u would feel cheated, all your work is used by some one n u get nothing for it,thats why copyright rules are made which bars us from copying n distributing softwares.
