Muslims, I've heard that another prophet is coming that is the "Messiah"-type prophet & that he will reign for seven years. Is this something that is expected in Islamic teaching?

Imam Mahdi (the Guided one) who will be from the lineage of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is who all us Muslims believe will appear prior to the coming of Jesus(as).When Jesus (as) does return he will help Imam Mahdi restore peace to the world and together side by side they will defeat the Antichrist.

I wish the Holy Quran was quoted in favour of the belief that Jesus shall return to Earth again. If it was one of the Basic Beliefs, it would have been there in the Holy Book. It is a sober and serious enquiry please. The answer may be given through email, if this question is resolved too soon.

the messiah which was Jesus (peace be uppon him) already came, and because he didn't die and because other reasons God is well aware of it, Jesus son of Mary will return again on earth by a command of God, killing the Dajjal (the anti-christ) and during his time God will spread peace in all around the world. he will remain for 40 years on earth then he will die naturally like a human being. the muslims will do his funeral.

That would be Jesus.
Shi ite differ slightly and believe that a caliph will be coming with Jesus. But Sunni's just believe in Jesus coming to bring peace.
