I think they would have to have one class for theology and cover ALL religions throughout the course of the year, allotting equal time to each one.

I believe that the only real education is to teach the kids logic and reasoning. I child that learns to reason is much better off than one who is just fed information and brainwashed, indoctrinated, or denied exposure to options.

The only problem with teaching religion is the teachers would have to be open and not push one idea over the other. The different religions would have to be presented by representatives of each. Otherwise there would be bias in the presentation.

Ex: I was in a Christian class and an athiest came in to share his beliefs with us. He was great! Totally willing to debate with us and defend his stance. That provided more learning about both him and us than any textbook studies.

Of course they will still learn to read, write, and with a little extra tutoring Algebra, but they will also learn the difference between Buddha, Mohamed, Christ, and Moses. A general knowledge of the world's major religions won't hurt anybody. If George W. Bush knew a little more about world religions before the war, we might be in a totally different place as a world.

Presumably by "schools" you mean Public Education, yes?

Which is the MAIN REASON WHY there MUST BE a SEPARATION between Church and State, where neither side dictates what the other does or doesn't do.

Parochial and private schools are allowed to teach classes under the auspices of their own respective School Administrators and to educate their students according to their approved/accredited scholastic curricula.

Peace be with you.

Good question ! Yes I believe the basics of all should be taught, I believe the basics of most religions are the same, and society wasn't as corrupt when kids were taught values in school back when I went in the dark ages. Even an hour a day of religious studies would probably work.

I think the consensus of the local community could easily determine this.
