are you getting older? sometimes thats just part of age. have you seen your Dr lately? could be thyroid or something like that if nothing else has changed. I think that you should ask your Dr and have him do some bloodwork to see whats going on.

Are there any areas of your diet that can be altered to make small changes in how many calories your taking in? Do you drink a lot of pop, milk, juice, coffee? Cutting back on high calorie drinks can be one of the easiest ways to avoid gaining weight. As you age, most people's metabolism does start to slow, so you constantly need to be adjusting your calorie intake and calorie expenditure to balance a healthy weight. Swimming is a good method of fitness, but you generally have to swim for a long time in order to burn a fair amount of calories, and unless you swim laps or something, you may not be getting your heartrate into the fat burning zone. Try mixing up your cardio workouts to include other activities besides just swimming. Also do some sort of resistance training with elastics, or weights. Building more muscle in your body will allow you to burn more calories.

since you are eating the same, you are right it's a metabolism change, I would get a blood test and get your thyroid checked out. Hypothyroidism makes you gain weight, it also has other symptoms like being tired alot, brittle hair/nails, hair loss, feeling weather changes hot and cold more than normal. I would get a blood work up and check that out because without meds if you have the condition, you will have trouble losing weight and will gain for no reason.

You and I are in the same boat! Only I waited a few years to accept that fact.... You just have to live like a normal person now. Watch what you eat and exercise and you will be fine. If you were naturally skinny to begin with, once you start exercising your metabolism will start to speed up again.

Start eating right, be more active....talk with your doctor about your physical and remember you didnt gain weight over night so dont expect to loose it over night. Be encouraged, good luck.
