ACUs:
More practical pockets, etc
Not supposed to be ironed (see how long that lasts)
No shine boots (this WILL last because the new boots CAN'T be shined)
Pattern is SUPPOSED to be digitized to offer better concealment
Distinct uniform is supposed to clear up public thinking that AF personnel are Army
Caused alot of talk about removing any unit/majcom patches

BDUs:
Heavier material is nicer for those of us who work in the freezing cold locales
Looks a helluva lot cooler than ACU patterns (and black shined boots look sharp too)
Weren't SUPPOSED to be ironed (which is why i say ACUs are going the same direction)
Same uniform as the army = reduced production and design costs
Pockets are poorly located (oops)

ACU's suck. They most definetly do not work in a woodland setting. I personaly think that the idea of seperate woodland and desert camo is a MUCH better idea than just having one issued pair.

Acu is doing a 50/50 job in both area's rather than MARPAT doing a 100/100 job in both area's with a seperate set for each.

I like the design of the ACU's,meaning the pockets and details, but the Marine pattern is better I think. The Army's sticks out like a sore thumb here.

with ACU's there is no pressing, ironing, bootshining. They are wash and wear, more practical because of the sleeve pockets when wearing body armor, lighter and more comfortable. The only thing I dont like is all the velcro.

I prefer the ACUs I dont have to do any pressing for my husbands uniform, so much easier to take care of.

I still have some BDUs left and I do wear them when puttering around the house but not outside the home front. Very comfortable and durable. I do wear them when I go camping or hiking.

ACUs are more comfortqable, but I don't like all the velcro.

things change. read army times, marine times, air force times. they all did a big write up about this issue. rules change and say they can stop in work uniforms. when i was in cover-all's and steel toes was work uniform. not to be worn at bars or strip clubs. quit being offended and buy them a coffee or coke and say thanks. mgan: both ways uphill into the wind.
