Mr. GorgeousFluffpot has been down to the sweetshop today and came back with a bag of jelly babies and some questions. He asks: You buy a big pink gobstopper and suck it for a moment, take it out of your mouth and it's green, and then yellow, etc. You get bored and stop checking after a while but how many layers of colour ARE there? And how do they put the colours in the sweet in order? Ooooh, while we're at it, how do they get names into sticks of rock?
Please answer this as Mr. GorgeousFluffpot will worry about this question all night and get indigestion from too many jelly babies!

The type of super gobstoppers l use on my kids have 246 different colours and contain 720 chemicals, all highly rated e numbers. They are particulary good at sticking to sofa's, curtains etc. The colours are superfast and once rubbed onto the wall will never come off - Colour number 123 of the gobstopper, aka "the middle colour" has never been seen by humans as no-one, as yet has taken it out of their mouth at the exact time the colour is revealed.
As for sticks of rock with the name on it - l always thought the tattoo man did it, could be wrong tho ;-)

Sorry Mr GF, they seem to vary from gobstopper to gobstopper. I remember one was 16 layers if that's any help. As for the letters into the stick of rock, basically they make a HUGE stick with big letters and roll it in a machine until it becomes smaller and smaller. Watch How It's Made to see the full story,
