Registered Nurse: I have to agree (once again) with Dr Russo; there is positive clinical evidence in the literature for Glucosamine Sulphate and Chondroitin, in a combination dose of 1,500 mg daily. It is not going to perform miracles in days or weeks, but has been found to be beneficial in patients with degenerative joint disease.
Be aware though, that these massive (and very expensive) tablets are not very pleasant - I have tried them, and found them almost indigestable...

These pills are made as a substitute for natural cartillage compounds and claim they can regenerate articular cartillage. They contain glucosamin, condroitin and Boswellin, acting efficiently on all articular areas (knees, upper limbs..). The first to act is Boswellin which rapidly cuts the pain associated with various articular diseases. Later, this effect is sustained by the other compounds which help regenerate the articular cartillage, thus enhancing the articular mobility. You also get good effects because of the presence of mangan in this pills. However these effects only happen if you take them for quite a long time, meaning 3 tablets a day after meals for a minimum of 2-3 months with 2 months pause. And after this break of 2 months you can repeat for another 2 or 3 months. So theoretically they could help, but remember they are only a substitute, so the amount of benefit you can actually feel depends on how much your cartillage is affected! Anyway it can`t do any bad,so why not try? Good luck!

Yes it does, but as you will see some other ingridient help, there is a company that has the best combination and this is what they have. I have been using it, and I am much better now.
Glucosamine HCl—a natural ingredient that has been proven to rebuild cartilage. Glucosamine HCl is the most soluble form of glucosamine (1)
• Bromelain—derived from pineapples, bromelain is an effective joint ingredient shown to increase the body’s speed of recovery (2)

I see you got some very positive views on glucosamine. There are two very important factors to consider : your age and the exact cause of your knee pain. My orthopedist told me several years ago that. yes, glucosamine helps some people. Give it 3 months or a little more to see. For some people it is not helpful. I had severe arthritis and NO cartilage left in my knees. He let me learn for myself that I really did knee replacement surgery. So, take the glucosamine, but also consult an orthopedist so you will know the exact cause of your knee pain. There may be other therapies that will help you too.

It would depend on the specific problem with your knees. If it is cartilage related, it should help. Try the different formulations also... -chondroitin... -sulfate etc. If you find one that works... stick with it.
My personal experience with it was... a few years ago when I was playing volleyball, I developed a dull nagging pain in one knee. I had had it for about 6 months before my wife suggested I take some glucosamine-sulfate. So I took 3 tablets. I could not believe it, by 11:00 am, the pain was gone and never returned. I continued taking it for several years... never any more problems.

Evidence is limited but what is available suggests that glucosamine when combined with chondroitin does help and I certainly do not discourage its used although exactly which people will benefit and the precise dosing remains to be determined.

yes, they are wonderful, but it takes almost 3 months before you will see (feel) the improvement. My knees were really bad, and my finger joints were stiff, but after the Glucosamine pills,I feel much better
