Yes! Many verses of course are point blank, and anyone should know what they mean- but to really understand the meaning of scripture, it is the Holy Spirit who teaches those. That is why many struggle to undestand who are not saved- and try to find error it is because they do not have the Spirit of God- as God says in the word:
1 Corinthians 2:12
We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.
1 Corinthians 2:14
The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
-There are many more verses concerning this- As Jesus told us that He would send a Helper which is the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth- It is amazing to me the things I have learned and continue to learn when I rely on God to teach me...as Proverbs 3:5-6 says " Trust in the Lord, with all your heart and Do not lean on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknoweldge HIM and He will make your paths straight"

I rely on both although it is hard to know where the Holy Spirit ends and I begin. I think that is the point of being led by the Holy Spirit. We have the mind of Christ. God gives us the desires of our heart which means he causes us to want the same things he wants. We are already seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus so there is higher comprehension by association. This does not only apply to the written word but also to the spoken word of God. I do not believe we elevate the Bible above God. The Bible was not available in it's entirety until the fourth century and even then there was limited access by non clergy.. I will agree that it is impossible to understand scripture without study and insight from the Holy spirit. I remember the Bible was boring a before God changed me. Later, it was full of life and even if I had difficulties understanding something I knew that as I waited and prayed I would have revelation about it. I do not think you can have full understanding without the help of the Holy Spirit.

Dear TRuth Hurts,
You will only have the Holy Spirit if God has saved you (Ephesians 1:3-14). The Holy Spirit will then lead you into ALL truth. That does not mean that once you are saved, you will know everything about the Lord because He is an infinite being. But the Lord will continue to strengthen and teach you as you drink the "milk of the word." As you grow and mature, the Lord then gives you "meat". We are all different and grow at different rates so do not be impatient. There are Scriptures that I have studied for a long while and the Lord has not given me understanding of these yet. But I keep on studying. Look at Isaiah 28:13 and 1 Corinthians 2:13. But we wait upon Him because the Lord does everything perfectly and in His time.

The Holy Spirit gives interpretation to the bible. Without the holy Spirit we can get the wrong meaning or interpretation. There are levels of understanding and in order to get the deeper understanding we require the Holy Spirit.

Yes and NO.
You can read the Bible and understand it according to your spiritual level and your actions. If you just want to read it as a story tales, you need nothing but time and a dictionary.
But if you want to understand the deepest meaning (the real meaning), then you need to purify your brain, and open yourself to GOD; then the HOLY SPIRIT will change your way of thinking, and you will reveal secrets from the Bible, those secrets that GOD has put into the BOOK, between the letters.
It won't happen suddenly but slowly slowly, and you must continue with this study until you get enlightened. Any one can do it, it is free of charge, a gift from GOD to his believers.

Stop listening to what "people keep telling" you for a bit.
Just read and understand the contents of the Holy Bible first...
Peace be with you.

You need the holy spirit to understand anything.
Without his help you are stuck interpreting perception to find your way through life.
A very risky way of preceding.
Love and blessings Don

Yes.
You know what? You can't even WANT to come to God without His Spirit being involved. That's why Christians say, "Glory to God." It's really Him that does the choosing to begin with.
So if you are feeling compelled to find God, that's Him doing it. The question that those that are being called is: Are you going to respond to Him?

Considering how many times it contradicts itself, and yet is supposed to be the inspired word of God,considering all the absolute impossibilities, like Noah's Ark,I'm pretty sure you need a good dose of schizophrenia to understand the Bible.
