It depends on the type of procedure. There are a few ways it can be done. I do know that in most cases that after a week or 2 the Dr. will request a sample to verify that there is no more sperm swimming. I do know that after they cut the VAS, tie all ends and then cauterize(burn the ends) it that any will get through. Although I was told the VAS heals very quickly. Has he been back for a checkup? If not recommend that he does.

Yes.... He needs to get 2 consecutive negative test results from the doctor in terms of sperm count before the surgery is successful.... These samples are each taken after 30 days of sexual activity....
In had to take the test 3 times since my first test was positive which meant I could still get my wife pregnant...

It depends. There are sperm left in the ejaculatory tract beyond where the vas deferens is divided. It can take 12 - 15 ejaculations to clear those sperm. Therefore it would depend on how many ejaculations he has had over that period of time. For my patients, I have them bring in a semen specimen to check for sperm. I encourage them to use other methods of birth control until we get a spermless specimen.

Was it healed, doesnt sound long enough.
Unless the proceedure was botched...even though it is reversable. Thats why he got it right, so he could have all the free sex he wanted without worring about getting someone pregnant...just make sure you get tested. It doesnt protect against STDs.

He's supposed to go back to the doctor to make sure he has a zero sperm count. Until he does, your just playing Russian Roulette. Use a condom!

Nope. He had the equivalent to a hysterectomy. You can still get an STD though.
