this guy asked me to go on a date with him and i said yes cause all his friends were around when he asked me but im not into him like that id rather just stay friends... and i dont want to lead him on... so what do i tell him???:S

You've already lead him on, honey.
The best thing you can do with any guy is be HONEST. Conflicting signals (such as saying "yes" in some situations and "no" in others) just confuses our little brains, and makes us wonder if we're crazy, or if you're just a witch (with a capital B).
Call him and say "Look, I'm sorry, I really don't want to date you. I'll be your friend, but I'm not interested in any more than that."

Tell him that you like im a lot just not a more than a friend. You want to be friends but you don't want to risk your friendship if anything bad happens.

I would just be honest and tell him that he is a great and ice guy but that you'd rather remain friends at this time.

Tell it to him how it is- stand up for yourself, don't let people push you around!
I, personally, would much rather hear it direct to my face than told "nicely", or "subtly", that's just crueler in the long run than being direct about it
