Maybe forget about your wifey ... and think about the kid.
The kid will be having this name and you should pick a name the kid will be ok with...

Omg! Ur setting ur poor daughter up for nothing but constant teasing when she's older! Is is really worth getting ur way with this at the cost of ur daughter's emotional well being once she become's of school age? I'd have to agree with ur wife in this case. Arnold is a male name, not even a gender neutral name. I think that maybe u r continuing this battle simply out of spite because it is ur turn to name the baby. Why don't u consider, for ur daughter's sake if no other's, a female name or a gender neutral name! I'm sure ur wife in only giving u a hard time due to the name u chose! C'mon.....Arnold??? I'm even sure ur grandfather would agree with her!

Dude you really need to rethink naming the baby girl Arnold. Try naming her Ariel or something. Wait for a boy or ask your daughters (in the future) to name your grandson Arnold. The name will stay in the family that way.

You can't give a girl the name Arnold it's a boy's name & she'll be teased.
The name Arnold means eagle; power, so why don't you choose a girl name with the same meaning.
Here are some that I found: Ardenia, Arlette, Arabela, Ulla.

Maybe you could go with Arnelle. It's the female version of Arnold. And it's a pretty name too.

Arnelle: German - Female: Feminine version of Arnold which means as strong as an eagle

Why don't wait until you have a boy to name him Arnold. I can see why she is upset. I am sure if you really didn't agree with the name she originally picked she would care what you thought.

I've never been a fan of the name arnold. Always thought it was pretty nerdy myself. I suggest u change it. B/c the gal will be teased horribly in school.

Now dont get me wrong, Arnold's a boy name and you should consider playing with letters to make it nicer for the sake of your child. BUT wives man, they always say that and they NEVER mean it, you should know that by now and all you can say is I LOVE YOU HONNY BUNS... good luck!

I think it's sweet that you want ot name your daughter after your grandpa,,, but, I think your wife is upset because it's a BOY'S name... Think about when your girl goes to school,,, kids are cruel & she will be picked on for having a boys name... So think about it... why not rearrange the letters & come up with a new name... Good Luck!!!!

You think about how the kid will react to the name and teasing that she may face later in life due to your insensitivity. It's honourable that you would want to name her after your granddad but perhaps you can give her a middle name that somehow reminds you of him, perhaps his last name or something.
